Back to Blogging!

Wow! Time has flown by and we find ourselves in mid-January! Room 4 has been very hard at work in our study of the Arctic. We are busy with Science, writing and theme studies activities all inter-connected about this fun and interesting topic. We are in the process of creating something wonderful to share with our families on conference day in March. It's a busy time in Room 4!

Here are pictures of students doing the "blubber activity"! We were testing to see how blubber protects animals in the Arctic from the cold, icy water.

    1. Hi Mrs. Dueck! Thank you for your question! Blubber is a thick layer of fat on Arctic animals. Some animals that have blubber are: seals, polar bears, the walrus and the bowhead whale. The polar bear gets its water from seal blubber. Blubber helps Arctic animals stay warm and survive!
